Another week of great European football and the two days of the champions league come with fixtures you can’t afford to mean, this is our overview of this week’s selected action in the champions league game three.
Ajax VS Napoli
Ajax and Napoli face each other at Johan Cruijff Arena in a highly-anticipated Champions League game. The Amsterdammers were on the verge of holding Liverpool to a draw at Anfield, but Joel Matip’s late goal eventually spoiled their party. Ajax aims to get back on course as soon as possible, but Tuesday’s clash will be anything but a walk in the park for the home side.
The Neapolitans have been impressive in all competitions this season and given their attacking potential, we are tempted to put our money on both teams to score.
Our prediction, GG and Over 1.5
Club Brugge VS Atletico Madrid
Buoyed by a thrilling 4-0 win over Porto, Club Brugge will look to move one step closer to making it to the Champions League last 16 when they face Atletico Madrid. The Belgian champions impressed in the Estadio do Dragao triumph, but they are still seen as underdogs in Tuesday’s clash.
Los Rojiblancos, aim to make amends for a 2-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen. Atletico Madrid is a more experienced side than Club Brugge, which is probably the main reason why we are going to put our money on Diego Simeone’s troops.
Our prediction. Atletico Madrid wins.
Inter VS Barcelona
All eyes will be on Stadio Giuseppe Meazza when Inter and Barcelona go head to head in the Champions League derby. The Nerazzurri quickly bounced back from a 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich, with the team recording a routine 2-0 win over Plzen in their second group game, but they should not stop now.
Since both Romelu Lukaku and Hakan Calhanoglu should be fit as well, we are positive that the hosts will find the net in Tuesday’s showdown.
Barca, on the other hand, aims to make amends for a 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich, and given their attacking potential, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score.
Our prediction, GG and Ov2.5
Liverpool VS Rangers
After surviving Ajax in their second group game, Liverpool will look to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they host Rangers at their Anfield on Tuesday evening. The Reds quickly bounced back from a 4-1 loss to Napoli, and the bookies see them as hot favorites to beat the Gers as well.
The Scottish vice-champions, on the other hand, do not seem to be competitive at this level, with the team conceding seven goals in total in back-to-back losses to Ajax (0-4) and Napoli (0-3), and we do not believe that they are capable of claiming a major scalp in round 3.
Our prediction is Liverpool wins and Ov2.5
Benfica VS PSG
PSG will look to keep their 100% record in Group H intact when they take on Benfica at Estadio da Luz. Les Parisiens have been impressive under Christophe Galtier this term, and it is no wonder the bookies see them as favorites to beat the Eagles on the road.
The Primeira Liga outfit is eyeing their third win of the process as well, but PSG will pose a much bigger threat for the hosts than their previous rivals. In their last meeting in the likes competition, Benfica defeated PSG 2-1, but we are tempted to put our money on the Ligue 1 champions this time out as they have been in a fine form of late.
Our prediction is PSG wins and Over 2.5.
Chelsea VS Milan
There will be fireworks when Chelsea and Milan go head to head at Stamford Bridge in the Group E derby. The Blues are eyeing their first win of the process, and we are positive that they will adopt an attack-minded approach in Wednesday’s clash.
The Rossoneri, on the other hand, aims to build on a routine 3-1 win over Dinamo Zagreb. Stefano Pioli’s men are eager to retain the top position in the standings, but Chelsea will pose a much bigger threat for the Serie A outfit than their previous rivals. Since the Blues want this win more than the Rossoneri.
Our prediction is Chelsea wins and Ov1.5
Juventus VS Maccabi Haifa
Juventus will look to record their first win of the process when they face Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League group stages round 3. The Bianconeri failed to impress in back-to-back losses to PSG and Benfica, but they will not have a better chance than this to get back on course.
The Israeli outfit, on the other hand, does not seem to be competitive at this level, with the team losing to both Benfica and PSG in the first two group games, and given the importance of Wednesday’s clash for Max Allegri’s men, we predict that the visitors are going to return to Haifa empty-handed.
Our prediction, is Juventus wins
Man City VS FC Copenhagen
Manchester City and Copenhagen face each other in a David-vs-Goliath clash at Etihad Stadium. The Citizens want to keep their 100% record in Group G intact, and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. Towering Norway ace Erling Haaland should lead the line for the hosts, while Aymeric Laporte made his return from injury in a thrilling 6-3 win over Man Utd.
The visitors will have a mountain to climb in Wednesday’s clash, and, taking everything into account, anything but a routine home win would be a major surprise.
In their last encounter in the elite competition, Man City recorded a 2-1 win over Copenhagen.
Our prediction, is Man city wins, and Ov2.5
Real Madrid VS Shakhtar Donetsk
Real Madrid will try to cement the top position in Group F when they take on Shakhtar Donetsk in round 3. Los Blancos have been impressive in all competitions this season, and it is no wonder they are seen as hot favorites to win Wednesday’s clash. To make things even better for Carlo Ancelotti, key attacker Karim Benzema is back after overcoming his injury.
The Ukrainians, on the other hand, did well to shock Leipzig in their opener, with the team sharing the spoils with Celtic in their second group game. Anyhow, Real Madrid will pose a much bigger threat for the visiting side than their previous rivals.
Our prediction is Real Madrid wins and Ov2.5
Sevilla VS Borussia Dortmund
Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund go head to head at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in what is expected to be one of the most exciting games of Wednesday’s program. Los Sevillanos failed to turn their dominance into victory in a goalless draw with Copenhagen, and, no doubt, they are desperate to record their first win of the process in round 3.
The Bundesliga outfit, on the other hand, produced a fine display against Man City, but the Citizens eventually picked up all three points from the match. Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund seem to be evenly matched at the moment, and, taking everything into account, we believe that there is a big value in betting on a draw.
Our prediction, Draw, and GG
Bayern Munich VS Plzen
David faces Goliath at Allianz Arena as Bayern Munich and Plzen face each other in the Champions League round 3. The Bavarians aim to cement the top position in Group C, and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. Even though Bayern’s form in Bundesliga is anything but brilliant, the bookies see Julian Nagelmann’s troops as hot favorites to beat Plzen.
The Czechs, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in back-to-back defeats to Barcelona (1-5) and Inter (0-2), and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Bayern Munich’s party at Allianz Arena.
Our prediction, is Bayern Munich to win and Ov2.5
